    Main Purpose of the job: Manage the Flight Safety Officer team to provide best in class safety officer services to the safety systems and flight data monitoring programs of Flight Data Services (FDS) customers. Advise clients on the application of flight data within their safety management systems. This role is responsible for ensuring that L3Harris Data Analytics align with industry regulations, safety initiatives and evolving flight data analysis best practices.

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Flight Safety Officer(s).

  • Raise reports to customers either directly or via the customers safety database where airframe data uploads exceed prescribed limits and significant events identified in flight data that require further investigation

  • Analyse flight data to identify safety trends and assess risks, providing data driven intelligence for safety improvements to customers.

  • Conduct safety investigations and risk assessments for customers to support their inquiries into incidents or safety issues.

  • Produce and deliver monthly and quarterly reports to customers detailing FDM events, significant events, and trends.

  • Work closely with customers to ensure the successful integration of flight data into their safety management systems, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Act as a virtual FDM safety officer, overseeing the analysis of flight data to identify safety trends and potential hazards.

  • Travel to visit customers and attend industry and customer safety meetings.

  • Deliver presentations on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in flight data analysis at industry conferences and events.

  • Provide training on flight data monitoring, safety trends, and risk mitigation strategies to customers and internal teams.

  • Stay current with industry developments in the field of data analytics and safety management.

  • Collaborate with the Customer Success team to offer exceptional customer service and support.

  • Promote safety awareness throughout the FDS customer community.

  • Occasional out of hours support to customers.

  • Produce safety publications as required.

  • Undertake safety related projects as directed.

    Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications :

  • Undergraduate degree preferably relating to an aviation / technical discipline.

  • Management of people.

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees within the organisation as well as with external agencies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex flight data and identify safety trends.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and experience, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, fostering open communication and cooperation.

  • Customer service orientation with a focus on understanding and meeting the needs of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Desire for personal growth and professional development, with a proactive attitude towards continuous learning and improvement.

  • Problem-solving mind-set and creativity in developing innovative solutions to safety challenges.

  • Results-oriented approach with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes and driving continuous improvement in flight safety.

  • Sound knowledge of current aviation safety and flight data requirements.

  • Proficient with MS Office suite and PC statistics packages.

  • Strong numerical skills with analytical and logical mind set.

  • Able to work independently and decisively under pressure.

    Desirable:

  • A piloting, engineering, airline operational or safety professional background

  • Airline operation and/or safety or flight data management experience

  • Postgraduate study in an area related to aviation

  • Flight Data Monitoring Programme qualification

  • Aviation Safety Management System qualification

  • Experience with a safety database

  • A second language
