Commodity Manager (Wire Harness/CCA)

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing:

  • Define, develop and implement strategy for the assigned commodity, including management and optimization of the supplier panel.

  • Lead the negotiations process including timelines and facilitate the decision making process. Negotiate best contract (commercial and technical package) for Procurement requirements. Ensure commercial gatekeeping during implementation.

  • Work with NPI Engineering team during early stage of design to influence cost and lead time. Promote standardization, modularization, and upstream integration.

  • Support the Bids & Proposal teams with specific market intelligence on supplier for future business pursuits and RFP support. Direct the Business Analyst on bid BOM evaluation, target cost, RFx, and identification of procurement risks.

  • Drive cross-functional team to perform Supplier capacity/capability assessments.

    Commodity Management:

  • Work with critical and/or challenged suppliers to improve On Time Delivery and First Pass Yield to target levels. Act as an escalation point for the Production Buyers, and manage critical supplier recovery schedules to meet organization’s demand requirements.

  • Understand and track performance of the organization’s spend, supply market, costs, and tiers of suppliers.

  • Conduct and evaluate competitive intelligence, market reports, trade periodicals and sales promotion materials and visit trade shows, showrooms, factories and product design events.

  • Support development of business cases and track supplier performance and cost savings.

  • Manage the business review process with suppliers to ensure that market trends, supplier performance and the future business needs of the sectors are aligned.

    Required Capabilities

  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills

  • Effective at managing competing priorities

  • Demonstrated initiative to investigate problems, develop solutions and obtain results

  • Advanced presentation skills and proficient use of MS Excel

  • Multi-lingual capabilities are highly preferred

  • Able and willing to travel to global locations (expected travel about 10-20%)

    Desired Education and Experiences

  • Experience in a highly regulated industry. Aerospace & Defense is preferred

  • Bachelor or Masters in Business Administration, Engineering or Finance

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in either Fabricated metal parts, Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), Optical assembly or Systems / Sub-systems integration

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a manufacturing environment

  • Solid understanding of ERP/MRP and production planning principles

  • Working knowledge of export controls and Offsets is considered an asset

  • PMP and/or CSCP designation is considered an asset.
