From 12 UK sites, our team of over 1,400 people deliver unique capabilities across air, land, sea, space and cyber for military, security and commercial customers, worldwide.

L3Harris in Tewkesbury and Fleet are part of our ICI division, we work closely with UK Government and Security Agencies primarily in the areas of crypto/cyber security, electronic warfare, counter drone capabilities and situation awareness projects.

In this role, you’ll pave the way for how we hire, develop and lead on early talent which is critical to future proofing our business through building a pipeline of the next generation of future Engineers and leaders. This role requires a confident leader and executor; one who can innovate at pace with strong leadership skills, outstanding partner management abilities. This is for someone who really wants to put our Early Careers on the map.

You'll have the drive and ability to go beyond just the job description, thinking broadly and creatively, connecting different ideas to make things clearer. You'll be able to do this while also thinking strategically, rolling up your sleeves to deliver our ambitious plans. Does this sound like you?

    What the role will involve

    The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Implementing the strategy and plan, setting ambitious goals and building confidence by doing what we say we’ll do

  • Leading the team, leading with intent, giving clarity on goals and priorities

  • Manage the day to day including onboard, performance reviews, rotation placements, ensuring academic achievements are met and all employee management responsibilities

  • The Early Talent lifecycle, critically reviewing and enhancing all aspects such as ED&I, outreach activity, engagement initiatives and retention strategies while remaining positively dissatisfied to drive improved value and impact

  • Coaching the team and business partners, providing expert knowledge to shape thinking improving performance and outcomes

  • Observing, mapping and implementing an exceptional experience for our early careers

  • Guide peers and managers of the potential and gains of an early careers programme

  • Capture and deliver expansion opportunities with our early careers offering where opportunity presents

  • Be the spear head for all STEM activities supporting the outreach of our business, and the social value commitment we make as an organisation

  • Broadening our offering to include internships, placements and work experience

    What you’ll bring

    The role requires the following experience and skills:

  • Previous substantial experience in a similar Early Careers Lead role

  • The ability to look beyond the job spec, operate in the grey – look big and wide and join the unseen dots to create clarity

  • A natural leader who inspires, innovates and drives a continuous improvement mentality

  • Being an authority in guiding and implementing strategies that sync perfectly with our company aspirations

  • Providing robust leadership and relationship skills, adept in collaborating at pace to deliver something brilliant

  • Previous experience of working in early careers in a Manufacturing or Engineering environment

  • An engineering background is a gain but not an essential
