L3Harris in Tewkesbury and Fleet are part of our ICI division, we work closely with UK Government and Security Agencies primarily in the areas of crypto/cyber security, electronic warfare, counter drone capabilities and situation awareness projects.

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Communications or DSP engineer to work on cutting edge enabling technology projects in Electronic Warfare and Cyber domains.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the research and development of new and novel EW and Cyber applications for the new L3Harris product portfolio. This role provides an opportunity to work with specialist developers taking low TRL, EW and Cyber research concepts right through to production. We are looking for candidates with vision, enthusiasm and a relevant technical background to influence a growing capability at L3Harris by bringing their unique portfolio of skills and knowledge to the team.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer or scientist, qualified as a specialist in an RF, DSP or communications technical discipline, but who may have been exposed to a wide range of different technologies through their work. The candidate must be comfortable working on low TRL research projects, and enjoy the challenge of working on new and emerging technologies.

Experience & Skills:

  • Experienced engineer or scientist, degree qualified in Electronics, Communications, Mathematics or similar.

  • Knowledge of RF analogue and digital hardware, its limitations and the effects on system performance.

  • Understanding of DSP theory such as, Filtering, FFT’s, Channelisation, Signal Detection, etc.

  • Knowledge of RF and Communications standards and protocols

  • MATLAB and Simulink

  • An enthusiasm for working with new emerging technologies, sometimes outside of their immediate skill set, to solve a wide range of challenges using creative and innovative solutions.

    Desirable:

    Specialist knowledge and experience in any one or more of the following areas:

  • Communications and communication protocols

  • RF design, analysis or modeling

  • DSP design or modelling

  • An understanding of AI or machine learning

  • Python, Matlab or C

  • Experience working on EW, Cyber defence projects

  • Published research papers or patents
