Job Title: Senior Associate – Quality Engineer / Continuous Improvement

Job Location: San Leandro, CA

Job Description:

Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance systems and activities. Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of company products.

Essential Functions:

  • Investigates and takes corrective action on customer complaints regarding quality.

  • Performs Preliminary Reviews of DMRs and evaluates in-process rejections via QA Process procedures for Non-conforming Material and MRB Activity.

  • Performs drawing control and CCB review activities for new and revised documents, ensuring customer notification of all changes.

  • Performs Product Sell-Off included final work order test data package review prior to shipment to ensure product performance is within specified standards.

  • Interfaces with customers, vendors, and various company depart­ments to resolve quality problems and provide information, and may perform internal and/or supplier surveys and audits

  • Develop overall site strategy with EM/RF Steering Committee and external consultants to establish appropriate scope and direction of program initiative.

  • Define charters for Lean projects and document key deliverables, activities, timelines, and responsibilities.

  • Lead improvement Projects/kaizen events (DMAIC, Kaizen, FMEA, Visual Management boards, 5S +1, etc) to bring together cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and achieve targeted performance improvements

  • Lead identification and implementation of project specific training in addition to other general Lean/SS training requirements.

  • Participate as site representative for L3Harris Technologies, Inc. Corporation Lean Six Sigma Users group, for regular teleconferences and act accordingly to provide or disseminate information as needed.

  • Develop, analyze statistical data for product/process improvement. As required, perform Root Cause Corrective Action via 5 Why analysis, 8D or other tools

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • BS / MS degree, with a technical emphasis preferred, with 4-6 years of related QA experience...

  • Preferred one or more certifications in Quality Sciences such as Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, ISO/AS9100, SPC, ASQ certified engineer/manager/auditor, or similar.

  • Excellent communication skills and experience in oral and written presentations.

  • Must be familiar with and have experience in design phase activities, manufacturing test and evaluation, working with electromechanical systems and mechanical hardware.

  • Must be computer literate and have hands-on experience with current MS Office Software utilities and application programs.

  • Requires minimum of certification to a Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt recognized program, with preferred 2-4 years experience with Lean/SS project execution. Previous experience or project implementation in related areas of manufacturing, quality, or engineering for low volume/medium mix, a plus.

  • Working knowledge of software applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Access, Minitab or JMP, Project Management, Simulation modeling or other Lean/SS applications

    Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance, with potential to handle classified data.

  • Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends and travel on occasion.

  • Able to occasionally complete manual activities as part of job including stoop, bend, kneel, and squat and manual dexterity.

  • Must have sufficient vision to see relative positions of small parts and able to discern symmetry and proper alignment.

  • May be required to move items 25 pounds for distances of up to 25 feet.

  • Based on job duties, and need to visit different areas within the company, may be exposed to fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals (well below OSHA and ACGIH exposure guidelines), outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and/or be part of a hearing conservation program due to noise levels around certain equipment.

    In compliance with California's Fair Pay Act, the salary range for this role in California is $85,500 - $115,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
