Job Description:

This position will be responsible for providing support to plan, develop, integrate, and selloff Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) for testing Space hardware electronic space vehicles and payloads to customer-funded program effort within Space Systems Sector of L3Harris.

This role will be responsible for leading the development of the requirements, design, automation, and test approach of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) including developing test documentation used for the acceptance test and checkouts of space vehicle and end-to-end testing prior to launch. The engineer will be responsible for the requirements and defining of Test Equipment Hardware, Interface Test Adapters (ITAs), cabling, and the associated documentation used to support the development of the EGSE test rack.

This role will require interaction between multiple functional disciplines, including system engineering, design engineering, and quality engineering. The engineer will also participate in the EGSE hardware and software integration and selloff. In addition, the role will support the space vehicle through functional testing, environmental qualification, final testing, and launch operations followed by on-orbit checkout and anomaly resolution.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible of developing Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) design(s) to meet all technical requirements and specifications to test space vehicle, payload, and/or test bed(s)

  • Responsible of generating EGSE test documentation (e.g., Test Requirements Documents, Test Design Documents and Test Procedures)

  • Directs support personnel in the day-to-day execution of the system test and integration tasks for Space Payloads and/or Space Vehicles

  • Responsible of EGSE selloff, checkouts, and support to all phases of the system Life-Cycle (design, analysis, manufacturing, test, verification/validation and delivery)

  • Support the root cause, troubleshooting, and corrective action process (as required)

  • Ability to work extended and weekend hours (as required)

  • Acts as subject matter expert and/or resource within the field

  • Travel to support integration activities and post-delivery support (as required)

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or applicable Engineering Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience

  • 4+ years of experience of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) or Automated Test Equipment (ATE) Development

  • Active TS/SCI clearance

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with test set hardware and software requirements definition, block diagrams, interconnect diagrams, and hardware & software integration

  • Experience with designs of Test beds and Simulators

  • Experience of LabVIEW and/or TestStand

  • Experience developing artifacts and presenting at major design gate reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)

  • Experience working with multi-discipline technical teams through all phases of program (initial concept, proposals, SRR, PDR/CDR, I&T, final sell-off)

  • Experience with RF measurements and testing, tools, and test equipment including but not limited to Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, Signal Generators, O-Scopes, and RF Test Equipment

  • Experience with space vehicle level test development and integration

  • Strong leadership and motivational skills

  • Experience with Jira/Bit Bucket/Confluence

  • Experience with MS Project, Visio, PowerPoint

  • Experience with requirements derivation and tracking using DOORs (or equivalent) including requirements verification traceability matrix (RVTM)

  • Effective communicator, able to professionally interact with external customer and internal engineering team

  • Team-player, able to work in a large program and fast-paced environment
