L3Harris Associate Manager, Material Management in Mirabel, Canada

About your next Challenge as an Associate Manager, Material Management:

Be responsible for leading and directing employees who are engaged in material management strategies, material planning and material data analytics. The Associate Manager, Material Planning will lead, support, and provide guidance to material planners and other contributing functions.

What You Will Do:

  • Create and maintain an environment where team members recommend and implement changes in procedures to improve value-added activities and eliminate non-value added activities;

  • Ability to adapt and succeed in a dynamic environment with ever-changing customer requirements;

  • Report performance and analyze data to identify potential problems and issues: Assume ownership of the problem solving process and develop sound plans and corrective actions to ensure adherence to quality standards, delivery schedules, cost performance, and safe working conditions;

  • Develop and implement sound process controls; confirm routine quality and Team Leader checks and ensure all processes and procedures are executed using controlled methods and in accordance with work instructions;

  • Provide leadership and coaching that foster high team morale and effectiveness;

  • Develop and cross-train team members to support operational plans; ensure training plans are effective and documented;

  • Communicate with parties within and outside of the function, which includes customers and vendors.

  • Explain, interpret and gain cooperation on policies, practices and processes to others within the organization

  • Facilitates cross-functional integration and communication across the organization to deliver continuous operational flow from forecasting, material and cost planning, production, distribution and invoicing;

  • Improves production schedule, inventory and material strategies to achieve lowest total cost while complying with quality, regulatory and process standards;

  • Ensures timely and accurate inbound / outbound logistics for plant materials and finished goods;

  • Responsible to maintain optimal inventory levels to support sales and production activities.

  • Responsible for management of receiving processes, cycle count program and inventory accuracy;

  • Responsible for all inventory and warehouse reporting procedures;

  • Develop KPI and implement a broad range of measures for strategic and tactical performance for material planning and inventory management

  • Work with the assigned functional and program leaders to track and coordinate all program deliverables, highlighting key program risks and putting plans in place to mitigate those risks, providing regular reports/update on program status;

  • Write and hold mid/year and year-end performance reviews and conduct career development discussions.

    Required Skills and Experiences:

    Bachelor Degree in Operations Management, or Business Management from an accredited university or college or an Associate’s degree as determined below:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of pertinent experience in material management;

  • Experience in a supervision role;

  • Must be able to effectively flow down goals from Manager into measurable tasks to subordinate levels;

  • Must be able to provide effective coaching and mentoring to develop a high performing work team;

  • Must have strong problem solving and analytical skills;

  • Must have an innate desire to learn and continually improve;

  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification desired;

  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required;

  • Knowledge of SAP, an asset;

    Eligibility Criteria :

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and/or Level 2 (Secret) security clearance;

  • Available to travel 10% of the time;

  • For on-site positions, our location not accessible by public transport, car/carpooling required.
