Job Description:
When you join L3Harris Space & Sensors, you will be an integral part of an innovative and fast-moving team where you will manage engineers to test and deliver mission-critical Space Products for Satellite and Launch Vehicle applications. The successful leader will bring their passion for engineering excellence in an exciting and dynamic industry. The selected individual must have a passion for growing and mentoring people.
Essential Functions:
Ability to troubleshoot anomalies with electronic circuits
Ability to work extended hours if required
Work directly on programs 75% of the time
Work under consultative direction against annual goals and objectives
Apply domain expertise on programs. Maintain domain competency and apply it through mentoring, collaboration, or individual task execution on programs.
Define, maintain, and improve development processes
Develop direct reports through plans, coaching, and mentoring
Actively support all phases of staffing and provide input on hiring activities for the team, including candidate identification, screening, interviewing, and selection
Provide input on hiring, promotion, performance and/or compensation decisions
Generate formal performance reviews with each staff member. Support personalization of annual goals with staff member.
Take an active role in the professional development of each staff member
Proactively mentor, coach, assist, and/or provide additional help to engineers in the analysis, design, build, integration, test, validation, verification, documentation, and/or maintenance of products.
Foster a team culture of Continuous Improvement
Manage 8-12 direct reports
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer or related Engineering discipline with a minimum of 6 years of experience or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Ability to lead and direct experienced professionals
Ability to communicate within and outside the organization to explain and influence changes to policies, practices, or approaches
Ability to make significant improvements to processes, systems, or products
Establish short-term operational plans with measureable contribution to the function or business results
Broad knowledge of electrical and software engineering disciplines with hands-on experience.
People-focused with demonstrated experience driving collaboration and teamwork in an organization
Demonstrated inclusive leadership and team-building skills.
Must have a strong drive and have a sense of ownership
Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance, which requires US Citizenship
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience working with or troubleshooting electronics
Experience with Satellite communications or Launch Vehicle Control products
MS Office products including MS Word and Excel
Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
