Job Description:

The Senior Specialist, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and or subsystems. The Sr. Specialist SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.

Essential Functions:

  • Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.

  • Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.

  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.

  • Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.

  • Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.

  • Perform requirement traceability.

  • Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.

  • Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.

  • Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications.

  • Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose, and systems engineering trade study process.

  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.

  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.

  • Written, oral, and presentation communication skills.

  • Model-based systems engineering and simulation.

  • Conducting verification testing.

  • Working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.

  • Developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans.

  • Engineering efforts involve FAA-certified general category aircraft.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Requires strong knowledge of job area, typically obtained by a combination of education and experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree with six (6) years of hands-on experience with testing, integration, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.

  • Graduate Degree with four (4) years of hands-on experience with testing, integration, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.

  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience with testing, integration, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.

  • Six (6) years of experience with Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.

  • Six (6) years of experience with configuration and integration of aircraft RF and satellite communications systems, or cryptographic equipment .

  • Must have an active Secret clearance at the time of hire.

  • Must be a US Citizen .

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Working knowledge of LAN and VOIP protocols to include IP routing.

  • Knowledge of mission systems: EO/IR, Video, Networks, SI/EW, etc.

  • Top Secret w/SCI clearance.
