Job Description:
Participates in the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment installations, and mechanical systems installations. Engineer applies basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with understanding of structural analysis for application to integrated system design.
Essential Functions:
Engineer will be responsible for research, development of layouts, preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost.
Designs will be accomplished using world-class, three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools and work will be accomplished with senior-level design engineers.
Mechanical design engineers have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems on various aircraft platforms.
Job Qualification Requirements:
Requires Bachelor degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Aeronautical/Civil Engineering with four (4) years aircraft design related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering with two (2) years aircraft design related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance at the Secret level which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Engineering aircraft design experience.
Must be able to walk to and from the flight line, work in aircraft hangar environment and board/exit aircraft is required.
Must be willing to travel as necessary.
Good computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
Additional Preferred Skills
CAD skills are highly desired.
Understanding of basic aircraft systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
