Job Description:

L3Harris is looking for an HR Manager to provide on- site HR support. The HR Manager will support both functional and P&L employees based in our Grand Rapids, MI site driving HR programs and change management initiatives. Grand Rapids is the primary manufacturing site for the Avionics business and the role will report to the Sr. HR Director for the Commercial Aviation Solutions sector who is located in Florida.

The HR lead will plan and implement business and HR strategic initiatives resulting in continuous improvement, enhanced employee engagement, and superior business results. This is a hands on role with one direct report and will require performing transactional work.

Essential Functions:

  • Partner with business leaders, HR Business Partners, and Center of Excellence to strategically implement initiatives to drive business strategy and improve organizational capability.

  • Utilize trends and analytics to provide proactive recommendations and propose solutions to enable sound talent decisions and initiatives.

  • Respond to data requests for program, division, and sector reviews regarding staffing, diversity, and attrition.

  • Identify and diagnose issues in order to develop, recommend, and implement root cause solutions that enhance employee engagement/experience.

  • Manage projects and special initiatives within and outside the HR function.

  • Utilize business strategy to drive functional staffing implementation.

  • Work with business leaders to develop and implement effective employee engagement solutions.

  • Coordinate with Talent Acquisition and client areas to ensure the business is able to hire the right talent at the right time.

  • Promote effective diversity and inclusion activities across the site and the functions supported.

  • Facilitate employee changes through proper processes and tools.

  • Leverage decision making capabilities to facilitate resolution of employee relations issues, complaints and investigations.

  • Run analytics to drive people related decisions; identify trends in employee relations, retention and engagement.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement efforts related to people strategy.

  • Recommend solutions and creative ideas to continually improve engagement and productivity.

  • Collaborate with Sector HR team to plan and implement HR initiatives.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, ideally in a matrix environment. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

  • Experience driving HR strategy in the following areas: performance management, employee engagement and retention, staffing, compensation, diversity/inclusion, leadership coaching and development and succession planning

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Team Facilitation, Performance Management, Employee Relations, Staffing, Compensation, Diversity & Inclusion, and Organizational Development

  • Experience in manufacturing preferred

  • Proficient working knowledge and competent understanding of Human Resources management, principles and laws.

  • Ability to influence and problem solve in the areas of compensation, talent assessment, performance management, talent acquisition and employee relations.

  • Work independently on day-to-day responsibilities and utilize strong problem solving skills to reach resolutions.

  • Exercises frequent independent discretion and judgment to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Comfortable promoting change and managing responses

  • General aptitude for HRIS tools such as PeopleSoft, Oracle TM Suite

  • General understanding of basic business competencies and business unit operations.

  • Strong interpersonal communications, facilitation and conflict resolutions skills.

  • Strong writing skills and investigation skills.

  • Strong attention to quality, process detail and the use of standard Microsoft office tools including Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Comfortable working in an environment which demands timely deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions

  • The ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continued improvements in business objectives, productivity and development of HR within the company

  • Ability to effectively utilize HRIS systems (PeopleSoft) and HR analytics dashboards.

  • Ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization and be a strong contributing team member.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

  • Dynamic, resourceful self-starter who can work independently and drive results.
